WELSH REGIMENT WELCOME THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK

Following the sad death of their Regimental mascot, Lance Corporal Gwillam ‘Taffy VI’ Jenkins in May of last year, Wiltshire based The 1st Battalion of The Royal Welsh will welcome its newest recruit, Fusilier (Fus) Llywelyn 23244169, at a short ‘pass out’ ceremony to be held in Tidworth, Wiltshire on Friday 22 January 2016.

In 1844, Queen Victoria presented the Royal Welch Fusiliers with its first official Royal goat and since this time the Regular and Reserve battalions have recruited a goat from the Royal herd at the Great Orme, Llandudno.

Following months of basic training under the watchful eye of the Goat Major Fus Matthew Owen, Fus Llywelyn is ready to ‘pass out’ and media are invited to share the occasion as he parades from the Officer’s Mess at Lucknow Barracks to Tidworth Garrison Theatre.
